Happy Thanksgiving Pussycats!

Happy Thanksgiving Pussycats!
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.

It has a been quite a while since public school for me and all of the historical
teachings of thanksgiving.
So, I went to Wikipedia and refreshed myself...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

Interestingly.....

History of Thanksgiving in Canada

The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been futilely attempting to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did, however, establish a settlement in Canada. In the year 1578, Frobisher held a formal ceremony in what is now the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This event is widely considered to be the first Canadian Thanksgiving, and the first official Thanksgiving to occur in North America.

More importantly what did the gals wear that day????
If you were a regular gal like you and me it would be something like this.

The Fruit Seller

c. 1580

Hmmm, doesn't look as uncomfortable and restrictive as
I had thought it might be.
No worse then ultra low-rise jeans and a thong in January!
Enjoy the last of weekend pussycats!

Vintage Russian Fashion

Vintage Russian Fashion
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Ok, you all know that I am completely into vintage fashion.
I can't get enough of it.
I
found these photos of vintage Russian fashion
and had to share!

What a find!

"Op with a dash of trad - the folksy element comes through clearly, Nelli Arshavskaya having been influenced here by the old Russian wooden folk toys. She rather fancies these two ensembles for après-ski, but does not insist that this is the only occasion on which they can be worn"

I don't know which I love more here..the hat
the green gloves OR the guy in the background.

"Two outfits for day wear from the Soviet Union, with a strong dash of sporting flavour" (from "Sputnik", March 1968)

Once again, do I prefer the capes or the young man in the groovy shades?

"A cape is the thing when autumn days begin to get a little colder. We are likely to see many of them in Moscow before long." (From 'Sputnik', October 1968)

And lastly for today....

This one is my favourite of the 4.
I really like these suits.

From the spring and summer collection at the USSR Fashion House, as exhibited at Expo-67 in Montreal. Designed by Vyacheslav Zaitsev of the USSR Fashion House in "a blindingly pure fiery orange, an angry red, and a green that is full of the promise of life and eternal renewal."
Finding these set the perfect tone for my Saturday.

I am inspired to find more vintage Russian clothing.
I love the web for this...now if only I
could add more hours to my day.

Have a great weekend Pussycats!
and as they say in Russia..
До скорой встречи. !

knits

Fabulous Scarves!!!

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
I found this web site this afternoon
and immediately fell in luv
with everything!

smARTWORKS, INC.
http://www.smartwks.com/styles
Located in Sheffield, Massachusetts, in the Berkshire Mountains.

As you know..I finally
learned how to crochet last winter.

Knitting escapes me...
I am missing the "knit" component
in my brain.

These make me wish I wasn't so
"knittingly challenged".
( i know..it's not a real word)

Wearing one of these would actually
make the winter bearable...almost.
Flower pins too.

Have a great Friday night Pussycats!

Yep, I am sewing geek.

New Patterns!

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Yep, I am sewing geek.
There is no denying it.
These patterns arrived today and my
blood pressure went up a notch.
My heart started to beat a little faster.
It was just like Christmas....

I don't know which one to try first.

This gathering in the yoke is so
right now.

More gathering at the neckline.
This will rock for Holiday!!!

I am sooooooo excited
about this Mary Quant.
She is my absolute favourite designer
of all time.

This little jumper is so
nice and "swishy".
I see red and black. OR-Wait!! ... green and purple!
I see houndstooth...paisley?
OH!!! so much to choose from
and such little time.

But this sadly has to be the last
of them for a while.

I need to regin in my eBay buying and get
some stuff paid off.

Some ween off drugs..
Me... I have to ween of vintage sewing patterns.

Must go and lock up my credit cards!
Ta ta for now!!! Luv Weezi xo

New Courier Bags

New Courier Bags

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Here are couple new courier bags.

I know that the whole 70's,
brown and orange , granny square thing
isn't ALL the rage right now.
New York Fashion week wasn't over-run with these.

BUT!- in a Weezi world it's cool!
This bag rox b/c it is so unique and soft
and cozy..just in time for fall.

Takes a VERY confident gal to wear this bag.

This next bag came out great!

100% wool- pockets inside- roomy

Here's the thing..
I make these up as I go.
When I start a bag I have a rough idea of what I am doing
but I don't really know how it
is going to turn out.
I pick colours..a style
and then the whole process has a kind of its own.

This one couldn't have turned out better.

Enjoy your Monday Pussycats!

The Margo Dress

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
I was working on this dress yesterday.
I am calling this dress the Margo Dress.

I did the fittings on myself.
Not much to fit really.
I used an old pattern from the 60's and
they fit quite well as a rule.

I wanted to check on how the sleeve fit (ick)...
and how much shape there was to it
and how the rolled collar sat.

I decided it needed a bit of gathering in the front
to update it a bit.

Everything fit great.I took it in a bit at the sides
to give it a bit more shape.
Very nice.

So, I tried to take a couple pics
to show the finished dress...
Jeeze! I don't know which is worse...
taking pics of red things or black things.

Anyhow...these are just
to wet your whistle as they say.

A straight, loose, 60's cut.
3/4 sleeves
White rolled collar
Small pleats in the center front.
Back zipper.

I really love how these turned out...

I am sorry you can't really see how great they are..
You will just have to come in and see for your self.

As of today 1 small and 1 medium.

Very 60's...a little "Factory Girl"..
a wee bit Jackie O.
Will do more in other colours.

Hope all is well!
