Today is Fashion Show day!

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Today is the day!!!!
Finally, after all these weeks of planning and organizing and list making
it IS the day to COME ON DOWN!
I am really excited!! It is going to be a very fun show!
After many hours of sewing and taping and gluing we have 55 fabulous dresses
for you to look at and 5 fantastic games to watch.
It will be an hour that will entertain you!

Here is a sneak peak at some of the dresses that will be showcased tonight.

There will be a mix of dresses that have been influenced by different decades.
I have some from my favourite decade the 50's...

And a few from the 70's....b/c I do like the silhouettes from the 70's.
I just wasn't a big fan of the fabrics....grrrr! all that polyester!

And there will be some Weezi favourites in there too like the Charlotte Dress
and the the Party Dress.

Lastly, I have a little bit of re-worked vintage in there too.

If you need any details about time and place call the CEEPS
at 519-432-1425.

The show starts at 8:00 in the CEEPS at the dance floor area.
It is free and it is all ages.
There is parking behind the CEEPS and on the street.
The kitchen will be open and they have some mighty fine "eats" on their menu!

Hope to see you all there yelling out whether
it is "higher" or "lower"! ;)

Condom Fashion Show

Condom Fashion Show (not mine!)
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
My Auntie sent me these photos last night....and WOW!
Check out these dresses!!!!

There are incredible!

I did a search and found this info on what they were doing...

Models parade in outfits made of condoms during a fashion show at the 4th China Reproductive Health New Technologies & Products Expo in Beijing July 11, 2007. Condoms of all shapes and sizes were used to make dresses, hats and even lollipops. Models fought through extravagant soap bubble special effects to show off tight-fitting wedding gowns, scaly-looking evening dresses, outrageous bikinis and other garments made entirely of condoms.
I would never have the patience...ever.
OMG! all the pinning and placing and measuring....grrr!

Some of these are really quite pretty.
I would like to know how many are in the dresses above.

Anyhow...speaking of fashion shows.....
2 more days Pussycats and then it is time to COME On Down!!!

Wed.night at the Ceeps 8:00
The Weezi Price is Right Fashion Show.

Be there or be square!
Have a great SUNNY day!

Newspaper Bags and Stuffed Bunnies

Newspaper Bags and Stuffed Bunnies
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Well, I was on a mission Monday to get these
newspaper bags made and after some serious cut and paste...

I made 40 of them.
I will work on making some "waterproof" ones for the spring this week.
I may use something else entirely other then newspaper.

AND!
With Easter approaching I had to show you this seller on Etsy.....

Her shoppe is called Puncezilla and she is a Canadian gal in Edmonton.
I LUV her bunnies!!!!!

I am not sure which one I want except I would like one of each.

Very cute!!!

Have a great Thursday Pussycats!

Newspaper Shopping Bags and Procrastinating
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Well, we are snowed in today!!

I haven't even considered leaving the house.

I have been online all day putting off working on my patterns.

So, I have been listing the new pics from my brother on Facebook and Flickr
and thinking about making recycled Weezi shopping bags.

I want to come up with a bag for the store instead of buying those
awful and boring white shopping bags.

After much "googling" and thinking and looking online I
came up with the idea of making a shopping bag from newspapers.
We always have tons of them and I want to be good and use
recycled materials.
So, here is my first prototype...

I like how the first one came out. I can do them in many sizes....

I put a plastic grocery bag on the inside to keep the newsprint
off of your new Weezi purchase.

AND- I can use cardboard from empty boxes to reinforce the handles.

In this one there is about 4 layers of newspaper.

I can use fabric scraps for the handles.
You could use them again for something small and light.

Now, they won't last forever but they aren't supposed to.
The idea is give you a recycled bag when you purchase something at me studio
that you can use again a couple of times.
Take out the plastic and cut off the handles and the paper can
put in the blue box.

Now, the big question..
Do you guys like these Weezi bags?

What would you think if I put your Weezi purchase in this bag???
They aren't much good in the rain..but I could come up with a
plan B for that reason.

Anyhow...I would love some feedback from you.
Please let me know what you think.

Stay warm Pussycats!

Vintage Dresses to be Inspired by and Fittings
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
If you are reading any of the "in the know" fashion blogs right now,
you know that Fall 2008 is what everyone is talking about.
But, because it is just me and my sewing machine
I work in the season not a year ahead.
I am still coming up w ideas and patterns for what I am
going to make next week.

These are the vintage patterns that I am being inspired by this weekend.

On the left side I like the mustard dress w the long sleeve ....
Looking at the McCall's on the right I like the blue dress.
I think this would make a nice top as well in a shorter version.
****

This Simplicity pattern on the left has me "all a buzz" with the buttons
on the white dress and I like the gingham pockets too.

I think I will do a long version of this one as well.

I know the one on the right is a maternity dress but I
want to tighten it up and turn it into a cute little babydoll dress.
This would be nice over capri's as well....hmmm the wheels are turning.
****

I bought this pattern on Ebay and have been dying to try it on someone.

Last night we had a impromptu photoshoot w my brother at the studio.
And, since as I had models handy...I whipped up some fittings quickly
and HAD to get Kelly to try this dress on.

It doesn't look very nice in this awful fabric!

But soon it will be quite the party dress....

Without the work sox of course!

I also wanted to revisit an old Weezi strapless dress pattern on Gaisha.
There has to be some sexy strapless dresses in the Weezi studio this summer!

So, I will busy this weekend doing pattern work....not my
favourite thing to do I must admit.
I am more of a sewing kind of gal...that is what I like the most.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!
Happy March Break !!!
Come on in to the studio if you are kicking around downtown.

Be in touch! Luv Weezi!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxox

P.S. Remember to change the clocks tomorrow night.

Full Circle

Full Circle
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
I am in love w this skirt and want to make some for
the studio in the spring.....which is very soon.

The tee shirt is great too..but the skirt is smashing!!!!

On a fancier note, I really like these 50's
party dresses w these great full skirts and fabulous lace overlays.

This black one is gorgeous!!!!

Sigh....they are so pretty and feminine.

I am going to have to make one or 2 just for fun!

I can hear the "swishing" of taffeta and the netting in this dress.

This one is my favourite today.....
Nothing exciting today Pussycats...
just me thinking out loud.

Stay warm and be in touch!!!

Awesome Lunch Bags!

Awesome Lunch Bags!

I really like to read this gal's blog everyday.
http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2008/02/vintage-pillowc.html
Oh Frasson!s is the name of her blog.

With her permission I wanted to pass along thing this post she did.

She was involved in a Vintage Pillow case Challenge.
She made these amazing bright and cheery pillow case lunch boxes!
Check it out....

"Ta da! This is what I made for Handmade Parade's "Vintage Pillowcase Challenge" contest. I just love the way they look. It reminds me of candy! Entrants in the contest are challenged to create something from a single vintage pillowcase and NO additional fabric. It's okay to use notions, interfacing, etc., but no extra fabric. This was a real challenge for me, since I rarely make something using all one fabric -- especially all one print."

They are so cute!
What a
nice way to take your lunch to work.
I am totally smitten with the little placemat she made.

Great how it folds up.

Maybe if we are lucky she will make more and post them on Etsy to sell.

Here is her shoppe on Etsy.....
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5192619

She used an iron on plastic to cover the pillow cases.....very interesting.

I will have to ask her how it was to work with.
That could be fun for Spring Weezi bags.

Well Pussycats...I thought these spring like lunch bags
might "warm" up your afternoon.
Read up on her blog for more info on how she made them.

Stay Warm and be in touch!!!!!
